MASON CITY | A Clear Lake man has been charged with felony theft after a couple reported to police two men got into their car in Mason City early Monday and demanded they give up their possessions.
Around 2 a.m., a man and a woman had been at the Yes Way convenience store, 637 12th St. N.E., when two men got into their car and told them to follow a vehicle driven by a third man, Mason City Police Lt. Rich Jensen said in a news release.
The two then drove to a parking lot a couple of blocks away and were told to get out of their car, Jensen said. The men took property out of their car, as well as their phones and wallets before driving away, according to Jensen.
Neither person was hurt.
On Monday morning, Jensen said police searched a residence in the 1400 block of North Hampshire Avenue and a vehicle, which yielded items stolen in the incident.
