MASON CITY | An Albert Lea man was arrested Thursday for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in 2017.

Chance Ryan Manship, 20, is charged with felony third-degree sexual abuse following an incident at East Park, 802 Third St. N.E., in Mason City. In Iowa law, rape and sexual assault are charged as sexual abuse.

Manship is accused of committing a sex act with a 14-year-old girl, court documents said.

The time of the incident is unknown, court documents said, but law enforcement believe it occurred sometime between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. April 1 to April 20, 2017.

At the time, Manship was four years older than the girl.

“Defendant also admits to having a sexual relationship with the female subject,” the court documents said.

A statewide warrant for his arrest was issued Oct. 5, 2017, stating that he would be held on a $10,000 bond. Garner police arrested Manship Thursday in Garner.

He was transported to Cerro Gordo County Jail. Jail records do not indicate a bond amount.

A court date has not been set.
