SUMNER COUNTY, Kansas | A Clear Lake woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Kansas Turnpike last Thursday.
Darcie Raye Nettifee-Vasquez, 31, was driving a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound at about 11:30 p.m. June 7 when she crashed at the 6.6 mile marker of I-35 in Sumner County.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol's crash report, Nettifee-Vasquez “swerved to avoid slowing traffic” and lost control of the vehicle.
Nettifee-Vasquez was transported Sumner County Regional Hospital, where officials say she died.

There were two children in the vehicle, 10-year-old and 4-year-old girls from Clear Lake, who were both injured. Law enforcement did not identify the children, but said all three were wearing seat belts.
Nettifee-Vasquez attended school in Mason City and Clear Lake, was a mother of five children and an entrepreneur who created "Acres Plus," an agricultural equipment sales catalog that was distributed throughout the Midwest, according to her obituary.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Washington Charlie Brown, 700 N. Washington, in Mason City.
