DES MOINES | A Clear Lake dental assistant has been disciplined by a state licensing board for taking dental X-rays without being certified.
Documents filed by the Iowa Dental Board state Lindsay R. Karsjens, a registered dental assistant, completed dental radiography on multiple occasions about two years before becoming qualified to perform the procedure.
Karsjens has since become qualified to take dental X-rays, according to the documents.

The board cited Karsjens earlier this month, documents said, and warned future violations "may result in further disciplinary action."
As part of a settlement agreement, Karsjens will pay a $100 civil penalty to the Iowa Dental Board within 60 days. She will also be reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank.
