Garner City Council at its meeting Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017. The council voted not to pass a smoking ban in its public parks and recreation facilities.

A little more than two months after former Garner City Administrator Randy Lansing resigned to take a job in North Carolina, Garner officials are set to unveil finalists for the open position.

Garner officials are holding a public meet-and-greet at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the four finalists for the administrator role at the Veterans Memorial Recreation Center on West Eighth Street. The finalists will be announced at that time.

Lansing had held the job for seven-and-a-half years before opting for a similar job in Nashville, North Carolina. His last day there was May 31.

"Garner is an amazing community with (a) very bright future," he wrote in his letter of resignation submitted April 2. "It has been my pleasure to be part of it the last 7 1/2 years and serve the people of Garner. Together we have accomplished many things and I wish you and (the) community all the best going forward."
