KLEMME | A Belmond motorcylist was killed Sunday in a head-on collision with a car in Hancock County.

Nathan R. Wadsley, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene southwest of Klemme, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.

The driver of the car, Shannon L. Gamble, 33, Garner, was life-flighted by Mercy Air Med to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa. Gamble was treated and transferred to another facility, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The collision, which occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and County Road B-60, was reported shortly after noon Sunday. 

Gamble was driving south on Highway 69 while Wadsley was in the northbound lane. 

Gamble struck the motorcycle while attempting to pass a southbound vehicle, according to the accident report. 

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
