DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police say a 4-year-old girl who died after falling from a third-story window was likely pushing or leaning on a screen that gave way.
Police say the screened window was open in the third-story playroom Sunday night when Hannah Geneser fell.
Hannah died early Monday at a Des Moines hospital. The Polk County medical examiner says the child died from severe head trauma. Police say no foul play is suspected, calling it a very tragic accident.
Hannah was at the home of her aunt and uncle for her cousin's birthday party. Her home was only a few blocks away.
Her father is Jamie Geneser. He told The Des Moines Register that the family was "very thankful that we had the four years with her."
