MASON CITY | Aspiring volunteers can now be matched with service opportunities in the Mason City area at the new Mason City Volunteer Center.

The Center began operating on Tuesday. It will be run through Mason City Hall as part of the Blue Zones Project Mason City, a community wide effort to help residents lead longer, healthier and happier lives.

A database will be used to match the talents and passions of aspiring volunteers with community nonprofits in need of help. The Center also will offer training and education events.

Volunteer opportunities will be advertised on the Mason City Volunteer Center website, masoncityvolunteercenter.com, in its brochure at on twice monthly on KGLO Radio.
