Frederiksen sentenced to 14 years on child porn charges

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) — The former fiance of a woman whose daughter was found slain last year in North Iowa was sentenced today to 14 years in prison on federal child pornography charges.

Casey Frederiksen, 26, of Charles City, was indicted on 14 counts of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to three counts in February.

U.S. District Judge Linda Reade could have sentenced Frederiksen to anywhere from 11 years to 14 years in prison.

She said today that she opted for the high-end of the sentencing guidelines because of Frederiksen’s prior child sexual assault conviction, and because of his attempt to hide the hard drive on which the child pornography images were found.

Frederiksen was the fiance of Noel Miller whose daughter Evelyn, 5, disappeared from her family’s rural Floyd County apartment on July 1, 2005. Her body was found five days later in the Cedar River about two miles from her home.

No charges have been filed in her death, but authorities have said they are making progress.
