The Mason City baseball team fell to Dowling Catholic in a doubleheader on Wednesday night. The Mohawks managed six hits in the game one loss, as senior Harrison Nagel allowed nine hits, and five earned runs in five innings of work. 

In game two,sophomore Ben Pederson hit a solo home run, his sixth of the year. The Mohawks also had five doubles in the game, but it wasn't enough, as Dowling Catholic scored six runs in the first inning, and four more in the final two frames. 

Senior Derek Dalen allowed seven runs over three innings of work for the Mohawks. 

“We just gave up too many free bases to a very talented CIML team tonight," coach Troy Rood said. "Our kids kept battling in both games, though.  Ben Pederson had another great night at the plate.”

 With the loss, Mason City fell to 22-13 on the season. The Mohawks will play a double-header at Ankeny Centennial on Monday.
