Forest City's cross country season got a little sweeter last Thursday evening when each the boys and girls teams ran to second-place finishes in the Top of Iowa Conference West Division.

The boys placed second behind Garner-Hayfield-Ventura with 52 points. GHV won with 25. The girls scored 63 points to place second behind Eagle Grove, which won with 30.

Team standings were broken down by division and where runners placed in that division.

For the Forest City boys, Grady Hovenga and Ryan Theel were each first-team all-conference. Hovenga ran to seventh place in 18:20.5 while Theel placed 13th in 18:27.9.

Freshman Javin Pedelty was second-team all-conference performer after placing 18:46.5.

Matthew Petersen just missed making an all-conference team as he took 31st in 19:26.4. The top 15 were first-team and the next 15 were second-team.

Rounding out the scoring for the Indians was Isaac Sand, who placed 41st in 19:48.5. Additionally, Zach Lehmann was 50th in 20:02, and Caleb Buffington took 51st in 10:08.4.

For the Forest City girls, Viky Chen and Hannah Good each ran their way onto the first team. Chen placed 12th in 22:22.2 and Good was 14th in 22:24.5.

Hannah Buffington and Anna Lehmann each scored second-team honors. Buffington placed 24th in 22:56.3 while Lehmann was 29th in 23:09.3

Rounding out the Forest City scoring was Anna Weaver, who took 77th in 26:03.1. Additionally, Brettin Linder placed 79th in 26:25.1, and Carena Lechuga was 80th in 26:27.9.

The Indians will compete in a state-qualifying meet Thursday in Orange City.
