FOREST CITY | Martin Luther, as portrayed by Pastor Don Rothweiler, will visit Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City, as part of the recognition of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, in the church sanctuary. The event is free and open to the public.
Rothweiler, a student of Luther and a graduate of university studies in Germany, was inspired by the performances of Hal Holbrook in his one man show, “Mark Twain Tonight”. He reasoned Luther, like Twain, was a very visual thinker and he could be made to speak in meaningful ways to contemporary audiences.
For the last 30 years, Rothweiler has been spinning these various threads of Luther’s thoughts into presentations on the man, his preaching, his contemporaries, his humor, and his faith.
