OSAGE | RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for people 55 and older, is looking for volunteers to meet community needs in Mitchell County.

An informational open house to explore volunteer opportunities through RSVP is being held from 10-11:30 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 9, in the NIACC Community Education Center, Osage Public Library, 406 Main Street, Osage. Anyone age 55 and older is welcome to attend.

Most volunteers serve just one hour per week and scheduling is flexible. RSVP also provides training for volunteers.

The opportunities in Mitchell County include:

Reading Buddy volunteers help elementary-school students who need extra one-one-one attention to improve their reading skills.

Pen Pal volunteers exchange letters monthly with 4th and 5th grade students to help develop writing skills and foster intergenerational relationships.

If you are not able to attend this open house, call Theresa Price at (888) 466-4222 ext. 4254, (641) 422-4254 or email
