ST. ANSGAR | After a stellar season in 2018, the St. Ansgar girls track team is hoping for even more success this year.
Senior Gabrielle Finberg said their goal is to send each of the Saints' relay teams to state.
"We almost did last year," she said.
During the 2018 season, the Saints had five relay teams qualify for the state meet, as well as four individual events.
St. Ansgar returns more than 20 letter winners from last year. Seven of them are seniors.
The team won five meets in the regular season in 2018. Senior Addy Carlson said the Saints want to win even more meets this year, as well as repeat as district champions.
"We have good runners all across the board," she said.

The Saints also have great team chemistry, according to senior Madi Soltau.
"We get along really well," she said.
Several of the Saints said they need to work on handoffs and blocks.
Finberg said they are using a more open handoff this season, so they have to adjust to that.
Finberg, Soltau and Carlson were all state qualifiers last year.
"Just being able to say you ran on the Blue Oval, it's something you are proud of because you worked so hard for," Soltau said.
