The following area athletes, from Osage, Riceville and St. Ansgar High School, qualified for the state track and field meet, which takes place from Thursday, May 16 to Saturday, May 18, at Drake University in Des Moines.
Freshman Meredith Street qualified in two individual events, the 100m and the 200m dash. Street’s time of 13:19 in the 100m has her seeded 16th at state. In the 200m, she is ranked 14th, after her qualifying time of 27 seconds.
Paige Kisley is seeded first in 2A in the 100 meter hurdles, after running a qualifying time of 15.27.
The Green Devils are seeded 10th in the 4x100 meter shuttle hurdle, with a qualifying time of 1:09.73. Relay members are Libby Schwamman, Sydney Midlang, Ainsley Dodd, Paige Kisley, Kate Mostek and Megan Krebsbach. Osage is also 10th in the 4x100 meter relay. Relay members are Katelyn Halbach, Meredith Street, Rylie Olson, Paige Kisley, Nasvy Cibrian and Madi Adams. The Green Devils are seeded eighth in the 4x200. Relay members are Katelyn Halbach, Rylie Olson, Paige Kisley, Meredith Street, Libby Schwamman and Katie Smith.
Junior Libby Schwamman jumped an even five feet in the high jump, qualifying her for state, at a No. 12 seed.
Junior Caleb Sledd ran a 10:33.67 in the 3200 meter run, securing the 24th and final spot at state. Wesley Smith is seeded 10th in the 110 meter hurdles, with a qualifying time of 15.58. The Green Devils also qualified at a No. 24 seed in the 800 sprint medley. The squad secured a spot with a qualifying time of 1:38.71. Running for the Green Devils are Wesley Smith, Gage Belz, Brett Bobinet and Nathan Havel.
Riceville qualified for state in three events.
Senior Julia Klaes is the 10th seed in the 400 meter hurdles, after running a qualifying time of 1:09.52. Senior Abby Marr qualified in two events, the discus throw and the shot put, and is the third seed for both. Marr threw the discus 125 feet and scored a 39-08.00 in the shot put.

The Saint Ansgar girls’ team qualified for state in eight separate events. Sophomore Hanna Taylor ran a 1:02.87 in the 400 meter dash, good for a No. 12 seed. Senior Addy Carlson is a No. 7 seed in the 1500, qualifying with a time of 5:13.86. Carlson is also the No. 11 seed in the 3000, with a qualifying time of 11:26.04.
The Saints qualified as the No. 21 seed, with a 4:21.85 in the 4x400 meter relay. Members are Meaghan Davis, Lauren Bork, Taylor Hanna, Madison Minnis, Addy Carlson and Ella Brown. The Saints are the No. 9 seed in the 4x800, at 10:23.56. Relay members are Lauren Bork, Gracie Urbatsch, Haley Peterson, Hali Anderson, Addy Carlson and Addy Witt. Saint Ansgar is No. 23 in the 800 sprint medley, at 1:56.92. Relay members are Gabby Finberg, Jaci Woods, Madi Soltau, Taylor Hanna, Tanyon Schutjer and Madison Minnis. In the distance medley, the Saints are ranked 15th. Relay members are Kirsten Boerjan, Jadyn Anderson, Ella Brown, Addy Carlson, Madi Soltau and Hali Anderson.
In the discus, sophomore Kira Baldus is the No. 20 seed, with a qualifying distance of 109-06.
Junior Seth Hershey ran 2:05.97 in the 800 meter run to qualify for state, and is seeded 14th. Teammate Riley Witt is ranked No. 21 in the 1600, with a time of 4:50.45. Witt also qualified in the 3200, running the event in 10:16.01, good for a No. 12 seed.
Senior Collin Kramer ran the 110 meter hurdles in 15.83 seconds, good for a No. 21 seed at state.
The Saints 4x400 meter relay team secured a No. 7 seed, with a qualifying time of 3:33.16. Relay members are Braden Powers, Mark Bless, Seth Hershey, Skylar Blunt, Ryan Cole and Griffin Carlson. The Saints are ranked No. 24 in the 4x800, with a time of 8:42.66. Relay members are Skylar Blunt, Mark Bless, Taylor Hillman, Braden Powers, Seth Hershey and Sawyer Smith. Saint Ansgar is also seeded No. 23 in the 4x110 meter hurdles, with a time of 1:05.58. Relay members are Mark Williams, Adam Williams, Lorne Isler, Jack Sievert, Collin Kramer and Sawyer Smith. The Saints are also seeded No. 19 in the 800 sprint medley, at 1:38.22. Relay members are Ryan Cole, Sam Juenger, Collin Kramer, Braden Powers, Skylar Blunt and Jack Sievert.
Sophomore Sage Hulshizer is seeded No. 22 at state in the discus, after throwing 132-09.
