OSAGE | Every team hopes to begin their season with a big victory, and the Saint Ansgar boys team did just that on Monday, April 1, at the Co-Ed Meet in Osage, scoring 117 points to tie for the win with Charles City.
Plenty of Saints' athletes wound up medaling. Skylar Blunt ran 54.82 in the 400 meter dash, good for second place. In the 800 meter run, Seth Hershey came out on top with a time of 2:14.01, and Collin Kramer won the 110 meter hurdles at 16.37 seconds. Sage Hulshizer came out on top in the discus throw, with a distance of 125 feet, two inches. He also came in second in the shot put, pushing the rock 40 feet, seven inches.
The Saints had success in the team events as well, winning the 4x100 meter relay, the 4x400 meter relay, and finishing third on 4x110 meter shuttle hurdle.
Monday night, the Saints were scheduled to host Nashua-Plainfield, Newman Catholic, North Butler, Northwood-Kensett CSD, Osage, Riceville and West Fork. Results were not available at press time. Tuesday night they travel to Cresco to take on Crestwood, North Fayette Valley and Postville. Thursday night they travel to Lake Mills in a meet against Bishop Garrigan, Central Springs, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Lake Mills, Newman Catholic, North Butler, North Iowa, Northwood-Kensett CSD, Osage, Rockford Senior and West Hancock.
