RICEVILLE | The Riceville boys track team may be young, but they have strength in numbers.

The Wildcats only have one senior and two juniors this season.

However, Charlie Ring, one of six returning letter winners for Riceville, said this year's squad is the biggest since he has been on the team.

There's nearly twice as many guys as last year's squad, which only had eight boys and had trouble filling events at meets, according to Ring.

Senior Ryan Larsen said one of the goals this year for Riceville is to "just compete at the meets."

Sully Fair, Larsen, and Ring will once again be on the 4 x 800 relay team.

"That has been our best event for the past couple of years," Ring said.

Larsen said his favorite memory so far as a Wildcat was when the 4 x 800 team won fifth place at districts in 2017.

Ring said the relay members want to keep improving their time.

Ring said the Wildcats need to improve on their running general and "being strategic on our races."

Larsen said another goal is to improve in field events.
