OSAGE – The Osage girls basketball team finished the season as the second-rated team in Class 3A with an overall mark of 20-2.

The Green Devils benefited from off-balance three-pointers to close out both the first and second quarters en route to an 18-point halftime advantage against Forest City on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The final score was Osage 55, Forest City 40.

The Green Devils then went on a 12-0 run over the final minutes of the second quarter, a run that was capped by another buzzer beater by Melanie Bye.

Forest City put together a solid second half that saw the Indians outscore Osage 28-25. Riley Olson overcame a slow start to finish with 14 points to lead Osage.Sidney Brandau added 13 points while Johnson finished with 12. 

Osage (20-1) moved on the Saturday’s regional final at Charles City where the Green Devils squared off against Crestwood with a spot in the state tournament on the line.

Osage's season came to a close Saturday, Feb. 16, with a four-point loss to Crestwood. The final score was Crestwood 53, Osage 49.

The Green Devils fell behind 11-6 at the end of the first quarter and trailed by only two points heading into halftime.

Crestwood maintained their lead, outscoring Osage by one point in the third and fourth quarters, ending the Green Devils' season.

Osage will be without seniors Sammi Scharper and Rylie Olson next season.
