ROCKFORD | St. Ansgar faced some strong teams in Top of Iowa Conference East Division play this season, but few played the type of interior defense that Janesville threw the Saints way.

The final score was Janesville 61, St. Ansgar 28.

The Wildcats limited St. Ansgar to just 4-of-31 shooting in the first half en route to a 34-10 lead at the intermission and finished with a 61-28 victory in Class 1A district boys basketball.

The Saints missed their first 13 field-goal attempts against the stingy Janesville defense.

For the game, Janesville limited the Saints to 21.4 percent shooting.

Ryan Cole hit three treys for nine points to lead St. Ansgar.

Ethan Kirchgatter added eight.

Codey Hicks led all scorers with 19 for Janesville.

St. Ansgar saw its season finish with a 13-8 overall record.
