DES MOINES | A pair of Wildcats wrestlers competed at the 2019 IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament last week.

Drew Fox, a 132-pounder, went 1-2, winning a consolation match after falling to Newman Catholic's Jacob McBride to begin the tournament. His 5-1 victory came against AHSTW's 10th-ranked Joel Sampson. Fox entered the tournament as the 14th-ranked wrestler in his class.

Lawson Losee, a Riceville freshman, had a remarkable state debut, finishing seventh at 138 pounds after entering action ranked 11th. Losee picked up a 5-0 decision in his first match before falling to the eventual fourth-place finisher. Two victories in consolations, including a technical fall in his final match, gave Losee the seventh-place finish.
