OSAGE | Sawyer Drive will soon reopen as a one-way street between the Cedar River Complex and Osage High School.
The street will mitigate traffic congestion and provide a safer route for buses and parents picking up their children from school.
As before, buses will line up in front of the middle school. They will then proceed east on Sawyer Drive, rather than looping through the CRC parking lot and funneling out onto Seventh Street.
Parents picking up kids in front of the middle school will be able to continue east on Sawyer Drive as well.
The road was poured July 30, with tie-in work being completed Tuesday, Osage Public Works Director Jerry Dunlay said. The sidewalk is being completed and an old, leaky hydrant is being removed.
The street will need to cure for a week before it can be opened. Remaining work will be done while the street is open to traffic.
