Did you attend the Mitchell County Fair? Wow, they did it again, another great year!
This group of Fair Board Members along with their spouses and children work hard not just during the week, but all year round to host a week of socializing, competing, eating and fun!
The county 4-H and FFA Leaders and Superintendents also put in countless hours during the year to make sure our county's youth are successful in what they do! There are many volunteers who help before, during and after the fair to host this event for our area.
Being a volunteer is not thankless...none of these people would be doing this if they didn't feel rewarded by the positive comments, outcomes, smiles and laughter enjoyed by everyone who attends the fair! A huge thank you to all who make our fair the greatest little county fair there is, volunteers and attendees alike!
It's not easy planning an large event around everyone's schedule, and it's appreciated that you take time out of your day to come when there are multiple things to do.
Unfortunately, to put on a fair, dates must be planned around the events everyone likes to see/do when they come...carnival rides and games, grandstand events, etc.
Many people would like to see this fair move dates for various reasons...their community festivities, being too close to state fair, vacations, ball schedules...the list could go on forever.
As community members, we need to embrace the reasons the Board's hands are tied as to when they can schedule the fair. They do their best with scheduling, and they would never purposely plan the week to hurt another community's event.
This fair is for our county youth to show off their hard work and dedication to our county. Let's show appreciation and support for them!
