Mildred Iva (Adams) Valasek

Mildred Iva (Adams) Valasek passed away October 30, 2018, surrounded by family, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville, IA.
Mildred Valasek was born November 4, 1923 near Stacyville, IA to Charles and Sadie Adams. She was one of the eight children. Millie was raised on a farm and attended schools in rural Mitchell County.
On October 24, 1944 she was united in marriage to Joseph Valasek at Union Presbyterian Church west of Stacyville in Union Township. The couple lived a year in Galvaston, TX until Joe's discharge from the Army in 1945, then returned to Mitchell County where they farmed near Little Cedar, IA. Millie was very important part of the farming operation, working side by side with Joe for the next 55 years.
Millie enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting, and socializing with friends at card parties, dances, and coffees. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Little Cedar United Methodist Church and the David Community Church.
Surviving are her children, Patricia Newton of Osage; Susan (David) Baldini of Waseca, MN; Connie Fischer of Grand Rapids, MN; Joe Valasek of North Branch, MN; Ronald (Jean) Valasek of Osage; and Roger Valasek of Osage. She is also survived by her loving 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Proceeding her in death were her parents; husband, Joe in 2000; son-in-laws, Galen Newton and Lonnie Fischer; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Per Millie's wishes, there will be no funeral services. A family burial will be held at a later date at the Little Cedar Cemetery.
