Malayne Meyer, agriculture teacher at Osage attended the Iowa Agricultural Educators Conference at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, Iowa June 24-26. This year’s theme was “Tools for Excellence.”

The Iowa Association of Agricultural Educators named Malayne Meyer as the North Central District Outstanding Young Member for 2019. At the Conference, Meyer joined more than 200 agricultural educators in professional development.

The award was established as a means to encourage young teachers to remain in the profession and to encourage and recognize participation in professional activities. It is awarded to an outstanding young agricultural educator in each district in Iowa.

Meyer has earned this honor in 2019 for her work in building and sustaining agriculture and FFA in Osage Community Schools.

Attendees participated in committee meetings and general sessions to learn about the current state of agricultural education.

Meyer also participated in continuing education workshops developed by peers and agricultural education leaders that brought attendees up-to-date on current teaching practices and innovations in agricultural education.
