RICEVILLE | The 10th Hole Bar and Grill, which adjoins the Riceville Golf Course, opened its doors on New Year’s Eve weekend. It is located on the north side of Highway 9, at 402 E. Main St.

The establishment was scheduled to open in late November, but construction materials shipped from hurricane-affected areas delayed its opening.

Bradley Ringhofer, who has been helping to develop the kitchen, bar, and dining areas since coming on staff in October, is a 2010 graduate of Osage High School. He later attended Le Cordon Blue Culinary School in Minneapolis. His initial entry into the restaurant business was working as a chef in several Minneapolis restaurants.

He later moved to Seattle, Washington, and in 2015 moved to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands, where he worked in a high-end hotel. He moved into restaurant managing in 2012.

Ringhofer said he was planning to move back to get closer to family when this opportunity came up.

The 10th Hole’s lounge area features a warm cozy setting with a long curved bar, and a stone backdrop featuring a small fireplace set mid-way up the wall. Ringhofer said the lounge will make available a large selection of mixed alcoholic beverages, including three beers on tap and some frozen drinks.

From the bar area, customers can access the adjoining restaurant which seats 70 customers. The large north windows provide a panoramic view of the adjoining golf course.

“We see lots of wildlife out on the course,” Ringhofer said.

The restaurant’s menu which is “traditional American,” featuring appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, pastas and several entrees including fried chicken, bourbon-glazed pork chops, pan-seared walleye, and a prime rib dinner. The establishment also offers deserts and a kids' menu, as well as a salad bar every night.

Current restaurant hours are 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to a 10 p.m. Thursday to Sunday.

“Hours will change when the golfing season arrives,” Ringhofer said. “We will not be taking reservations for smaller parties, but same day reservations are available for larger gatherings. We will do some limited catering, and when our downstairs party room is completed, we will be able to serve up to 150 people in that area for larger events.”
