FOREST CITY — Until this weekend, the Waldorf Track and Field team has only worked out and practiced at Bolstorff Field. In its second year of competition, the Warrior track team has traveled for every track and field event it has competed in.

Saturday that all changes, as Waldorf is the host for the Warrior Invitational, a six-team event which is the first of two colligate events scheduled for this spring. Later this spring, May 11-13, Waldorf and Bolstorff Field will be the site of the North Star Athletic Association outdoor championships.

Team scheduled to compete in the inaugural meet include Indian Hills Community College, North Iowa Area Community College, Southwestern Community College, Martin Luther College and Waldorf University.

“We’re excited to have a home meet for the kids,” said head Warrior coach Kelsey Riggins. “We have kids, like Cody Clark, a senior who has been on the cross country team four years and joined the track team last year when we started, he has never had a home meet.”

Riggins said she was excited for Waldorf and Forest City fans to see the kids compete and see what the Warriors work so hard for.

“The community build us a beautiful facility,” she said. “We’d like to have people come out and see us use it.”

The meet is scheduled to start with field events at noon.
