The Forest City girls and boys cross country teams put forth good showings in a meet at Belmond-Klemme on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The girls scored a runner-up finish while the boys took third.

In the girls' race, the Indians' Vicky Chen and Hannah Buffington each turned in Top-10 finishes. Chen ran to eighth place in 20 minutes, 58 seconds while Buffington came in just behind in ninth at 20:59.

Anna Lehman added a 13th-place finish in 21:21, Hannah Good was 16th in 21:57 and Abby Wirtjes rounded out the scoring with a 24th-place finish in 22:32. Also for the Indians, Lyndee Jones was 27th (22:39) and Anna Weaver was 43rd (24:16).

Forest City finished with 70 points, which was only behind Eagle Grove's 54.

On the boys' side, the Indians scored 81 points to take third place. Clear Lake ran away with the meet title with 15 points while West Fork took second with 75.

Ryan Theel led a pack of Forest City runners to the finish line with a 13th-place performance in 17:44, Grady Hovenga was 14th in 17:49 and Javin Pedelty was 15th in 17:50.

Just behind those guys came in Zach Lehmann, who placed 18th in 18:00. Isaac Sand rounded out the scoring in 21st with a time of 18:07.

Also for the Indians, Matt Peterson was 23rd (18:13) and Rndy Vaughn was 29th (18:33).
