OSAGE – One thing absolutely had to come to end for Osage in Tuesday’s Class 3A regional volleyball semifinal.

Osage, the sixth-rated team in Class 3A, was playing in its gym for the final time against a Forest City team that had the capability of ending the Green Devils’ tournament run, as well.

Osage was sharp from the opening point in a convincing 3-0 win over the Indians. Set scores were 25-13, 25-12 and 25-16.

On this night, the Green Devils were in solid control of nearly every facet of the game.

Forest City played solid volleyball, particularly on defense, where the Indians were able to mitigate many of the Osage attacks, but the Indians could not string together points against the Green Devils.

Osage broke out to a 5-2 lead in the first set before exploding to a 17-6 margin that effectively ended the Indians’ chances to get out quickly.

The Green Devils opened the second set with eight consecutive points and built a lead as large as 15 to go up 2-0.

Forest City kept things close in the third set until the Green Devils outscored the Indians 7-1 in a late run.

Forest City, the Top of Iowa Conference West Division champion, closes its season with a mark of 25-7.

Individual statistics were not available at press time.
