Kelsey Koch runs the hurdles for the Indians.

The Forest City High School girls track team has begun practice with 37 girls on the roster for the 2019 season.

Senior Kelsey Koch, who runs hurdles events, has been on the team for all for years and said the team strives to push themselves to qualify for state, which is an improvement since her freshman year.

“We had a really, really good year last year, so we just need to keep that in mind and just keep working on practice and strive to be like last year, win a couple meets,” she said.

The team this year has a good chance if they push themselves and a good chance to win at conference, which is the biggest goal, Koch said.

Koch said her goal is to get back to the state track meet and get new personal records on all her events. She said she needs to attack the hurdles harder than she normally does and be more aggressive in her running.

Although there aren’t as many girls on the team this year as they normally do, Koch said if they all just keep working hard it won’t matter.
