ALGONA | Abbey Holmes and Aliyah Buscher combined for 31 points as Algona picked up a season-opening victory against Forest City on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

The Bulldogs led 17-10 after the first quarter, but the Indians were outscored by no more than three points in each quarter afterward. Nicole Smidt had 13 rebounds and six steals.

The final score was Algona 53, Forest City 38. 

The Indians picked up quality performances from a handful of players as they won on the road Tuesday, Nov. 27.

The final score was Forest City 60, Eagle Grove 42

Noelle Jones, Erin Caylor and Shae Dillavou combined for 33 of Forest City's 60 points. Makayla Kingland was an impressive eight-of-eight from the free-throw line.

Erin Caylor had a team-high 11 points as the Indians defeated Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Friday, Nov. 30.

The final score was Forest City 44, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura 25.

Noelle Jones added nine points, three rebounds and three steals. The Indians attempted 26 free throws but hit only 13 of them. Shae Dillavou, a freshman, had a team-high eight rebounds. She also finished with three assists and two steals. 

Maddie Williams led the Cardinals with 10 points.

The Indians travel to North Union (2-0) on Tuesday, Dec. 4. They then host North Iowa (0-3) on Friday, Dec. 7.
