FOREST CITY | Graduation hit the Forest City girls basketball team hard after an 18-5 season, but the Indians still return five seniors who were juniors for a team that finished third in the conference last season.

Kelsey Koch, a solid all-around performer for Forest City, returns for her senior year and should provide steady leadership for the inexperienced Indians. Koch averaged more than eight points per game while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor last season and was also the team’s second-leading rebounder. Koch also led the team in steals with 64.

First-year coach Matt Erpelding is looking forward to a season, and he said he expects some growing pains as the players mesh early in the season.

“I feel by the end of the season, this group should be capable of doing some special things,” Erpelding said. “(We have a) very athletic group of girls with a variety of talents.”
