Michelle Jermeland, a ninth-grader at Forest City, has won her third Iowa Special Olympics gold medal in bowling.

FOREST CITY | Michelle Jermeland, a ninth-grader at Forest City, won a gold medal at the State Special Olympics bowling competition.

This was her third gold medal in bowling for Forest City. She also won gold in 2010 and 2017.

"Michelle enjoyed interacting with the volunteers and having her family there to cheer her on," said Seth Thorson, Special Olympics coach at Forest City Middle School.

"Michelle and her family would like to thank the Super Bowl in Forest City for allowing her and her classmates to practice and her coaches and teachers for all their help," Thorson said.

The state competition was held on Nov. 17 in Des Moines. Forest City students Jacob Leitz, Adam Rodriguez and Gracie Conrad also qualified for state.
