While writing this article, I find myself in the midst of Holy Week.
During this week we all watched with great sadness the burning of the great Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
One of the pictures that will be embedded in our memories from the tragic fire is that of the cross hanging over the ashes. That cross symbolizes the redemptive power of Christ blood for each and every one of us.
Our life without Christ is worth noting but ashes and someday our bodies will return to the dust of the earth from which it was formed. Our spirits, however, live on throughout eternity.
It is our choice as to where we will spend eternity.
Either we will choose to believe that Jesus is the Son of God sent to this Earth to redeem our souls and live with Him in His Kingdom. Or, we can choose to not except Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives and spend eternity in utter darkness lamenting over our sins.
When Jesus was hanging on that cross He knew it was our sins that put Him on the cross.

A few years ago a friend of mine introduced me to a great song, "When He was on the Cross I was on His Mind."
I just want to share with you a few lines from that song. “A look of love was on His face, and thorns were on His head. Blood was on His Scarlet robe and stained it crimson red. Though His eyes were on the crowd that day, He looked ahead in time. When he was on the cross, I was on His mind. He knew me, yet He loved me. He whose glory made the heaves shine. I'm so unworthy of such mercy. When He was on the cross I was on His mind.”
Yes, He did see us that day and he loved us anyway and was willing to pay the price for our redemption. It is only the blood of Jesus that can wash away our sins. He is the only one who has the power to take the keys of death and open the gates to the temple for you and me. It is only Jesus who has the power to open the grave from the inside out. It is Jesus only can walk out from the grave under His own might power. There is no other place on earth people will come and stand for hours to go see what is not there. What was once there was removed by the person who used it for just three days.
Jesus came from heaven to earth to show us the way. While on the earth he went to the cross to pay our debt of sin. From the cross he went to the grave to clear the way and lives again so that we can live for Him.
When it is our turn to cross the valley of death He will carry us through it into eternal life with Him if we only believe. Jesus died so we could live with Him.
Come with me to Calvary to receive the washing away of sin. Then come with me to the empty grave and sing of His victory over sin and death. Come with me and let Jesus hold our hands as He guides us through this life into eternity.
