This coming Sunday we will be celebrating Pentecost.
In John 14:15-17 Jesus tells us, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you."
Jesus promises us the Holy Spirit will be sent to us the and he will reveal to us who abide in him the truth regarding Jesus Christ.
In verse 26 and 27 Jesus goes on and tells us that "the Advocate the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you."
Jesus promised he would never leave you alone to fight the battle. He went so the Holy Spirit could come to us and fill us all the riches of Heaven and make us joint heirs with him having all the rights of being children of the Heavenly Father.
The Holy Spirit will lead all of God's children with all the grace, riches, wisdom and glory of heaven.
Jesus also promised us his peace not like that of this world but an abiding peace. A peace that would surround us not matter what we be experiencing in our lives.
Jesus is there with us by the power of the Holy Spirit and in spite of it all - our souls, hearts, and minds can be at peace knowing the battle has already been won.
In times of unrest in our earthly lives our spiritual lives can be at rest in the arms of the Lord of lord and King of kings.

The wonderful thing about Pentecost is that yes that is when the Holy Spirit came to this earth, but every day can be Pentecost for the Child of God.
Each day we can rise and sing, "O day full of grace, which we behold, now gently to view ascending; Thou over the earth thy reign unfold, Good cheer to all mortals lending, That children of light in every clime may prove that the night is ending."
Each day as children of God we see his power coming to us. God shelters us with the Father's love, Christ redemption and then the power of the Holy Spirit, as He gives us the grace to receive all that the He wants to bless us with.
The darkness of night where fear tries to creep in has to give way to the light of day. The light that revels the love that God the Father has for us by sending His Son to live, to die, and to live again so that we too might live with Him for all eternity.
The light that bring the power of the Holy Spirit to us who reveals not only the truth about who Jesus is but to those who believe, who they are in Christ.
For those who believe our houses may be on this Earth but our home is in Heaven and soon we will take the journey to our everlasting Home in Heaven for all eternity.
If you have not experienced the joy and power of Pentecost, now is the time to enter into a new and glorious relationship the God and have the peace Jesus offers you.
Go and seek a trusted Christian friend or Pastor and pray with them. If you don't know of one please contact me at the First Congregational Church in Forest City or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and get to know the joy of having each day being Pentecost.
Now may the love of God and the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus and the anointing of the Holy Spirit come and fill you anew today and every day. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
