FOREST CITY | BrickStreet Theatre recently announced the selections for the company’s 2019 season: “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Elf, the Musical.”

Julie Keely, BrickStreet's artistic director, shared that news during the Forest City community theater organization's 45th anniversary open house gala on July 22.

The reception, held after the opening performance of  BrickStreet's production of “The Pirates of Penzance,” featured hors d’ oeuvres, mini-desserts, beverages, and a brief program commemorating the organization’s colorful history.

The several dozen community members and BrickStreet patrons attending also viewed photos and memorabilia.

The most recent BrickStreet revival, launched in 2015, included an expansion of the board, appointment of an artistic director, attainment of non-profit status, and acquisition of downtown space to serve as office and rehearsal space.

“We’re excited to soon share the stage at the new Hanson Fine Arts Center and we’re extremely pleased at the way our educational outreach, BrickStreet Kids, is growing," Keely said.
