FOREST CITY | Mayor Barney Ruiter will host his first Meet and Greet on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Forest Plaza, located at 635 Highway 9 East in Forest City.

The public is invited to attend as Ruiter provides updates on city street projects, electric projects and the Forest City visioning projects.

Community members will be able to participate in open discussions, ask questions or voice concerns.

Also in attendance will be Barb Smith, city administrator; Tom Montgomery, police chief; and Ron Holland, mayor pro tem and Ward 1 city councilman.

Ruiter said he's wanted to do Meet and Greet events since he was elected mayor in 2015.

These events will provide a more informal atmosphere for interaction with residents than the public forum time at city council meetings, according to Ruiter.
