FOREST CITY | A Forest City team placed third in a FIRST Tech Challenge tournament on Nov. 10 in Manson.

FC Polaris was among 16 teams in the robotics competition for youth in grades 7-12.

Team members are Tess Kozitza, Caleb Zrostlik, Xavier Holland and Trey Rauk.

Natalie Hammer and her father, Ray Hammer, are the coaches for FC Polaris.

Each FIRST Tech Challenge team must build an 18 x 18-inch robot out of metal parts and program it for a space-themed game in which the robots explore uncharted planets.

The teams learned about this season's challenge in early September and have been working on their robots ever since, according to Natalie Hammer.

Polaris FC will participate in three more tournaments before a regional tournament in Fort Dodge on Jan. 19.
