Chilly weather didn't deter fun lovers in Forest City on Saturday

The Forest City Chamber of Commerce sponsored a holiday event packed full of fun activities, all in one afternoon along Clark Street on Saturday.

A free movie kicked off the events at the Forest Theatre around the noon hour. Prize drawings were done at the end of the movie.

“We came out to the movie,” said Marissa Heckes, who was out and about with Justyn Bronson and Lyrik Jones. “Justyn’s parents are running the turkey bowling booth and we thought it would be a cool thing to do!”

No pun intended, but cool was an understatement. You could have frozen water in mid-air, but that didn’t stop people from coming out.

Christmas music was DJ’d from a van, and free horse drawn wagon rides were given throughout the afternoon.

Activities included turkey bowling and sling shot games. Cookie decorating opportunities were held at the Old Hanson Hardware Store building along with small Christmas craft-making projects.

Adults and kids alike roasted marshmallows and created s’mores over an open fire.

Community businesses were busy with customers playing the bingo game, in which they received a stamp for every business on the list that they visited and shopped at.

Hot cocoa and chili were provided free at the Scoopy Doos ice cream shop. Festivities wrapped up around 4:30 p.m.
