AFS Face Painting

Raven Yarbor, 7, had her face painted like a tiger during AFS Fun Night. Volunteer Charity Nicholson, left, did the face painting and showed Raven the results with a mirror.

FOREST CITY — The annual AFS Fun Night will be held from 6-9 p.m., on Friday, March 8, at the Forest City High School gym and cafeteria.

The carnival and food court opens at 6 p.m. and will continue until 9 p.m. More than 150 high school students and adults volunteer to help with nearly 50 concessions and games. Many of the old favorite games are back, plus exciting new games.

The food court will feature carnival favorites, including walking tacos, caramel apple slices, hot dogs, nachos and cheese, pizza, root beer floats, cotton candy, snow cones and more.

Tickets remain at four for $1. Funds raised from previous Fun Night carnivals have been utilized to bring 102 AFS foreign exchange students to Forest City since 1965.

Currently, there are three exchange students being hosted by Forest City families - Lia from Italy, Henriette from Norway and Astrid from Sweden.

Over 65 FCHS students have been sponsored abroad by the Forest City AFS chapter since 1966.

The chapter will have a display of information for high school students and their parents on studying abroad. Past host-parents will also be available to answer any questions on hosting an exchange student for the 2019-20 school year.

Volunteers willing to help plan or work on the games and activities are needed, along with donations. For more information, contact Eunice Clouse, 585-4155, Karen Monson, 585-2450 or Tami McInroy, 641-585-3018.
