Forest City Farmers Market opening day

Jennifer Namanny and her daughter, Aubree, 5, were among those at opening day of the Forest City Farmers Market on Thursday. Baked goods, fresh vegetables and other items were available for purchase. 

Forest City Farmers’ Market joins markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week from August 5-11.

On Thursday, August 9, from 3:00-5:30 pm, Forest City Farmers’ Market will feature local produce from vendors, food demonstrations, “Play with your Food” kids’ activities, Young Entrepreneur’s Lemonade Stand, and music provided by JED’s Lights & Sounds

The Forest City Farmers’ Market hosts a variety of farmers, producers, and bakers, selling a wide variety of products, including fresh picked produce, honey, maple syrup, fresh baked breads and pastries, as well as cupcakes and handmade craft items.

A number of the vendors, including Red Shed Gardens, DAN’s Garden Produce and Monarch Ridge Farms, accept SNAP/EBT for purchasing convenience of shoppers looking for locally grown, fresh produce for their families.
