BRITT | After a 2-32 season, West Hancock’s boys golf team is ready to return to the course.

The Eagles placed sixth at sectionals last season, and coach Melinda Tremmel hopes the off-season work translates to more success on the links.

“Our record didn't show a winning season last year, but we were improving throughout the season,” Tremmel said.

Five golfers who lettered last season (Justin Ausborn, Keifer Carlson, Ian Gobeli, Bryce Hinton and Dalton Subject) return for the 2019 season. Several others are vying for a spot on varsity, and there’s a promising group of newcomers, as well.

“The extra efforts the guys put in during the offseason will hopefully translate to some lower scores,” Tremmel said. “Our goal is to make a return trip to the district meet as we did a couple of years ago. We've been working hard inside hitting into the nets and working on some putting, but we're ready to get on the golf course.”
