The West Hancock baseball team split a double-header against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Tuesday, July 2, as the Eagles lost to the Cardinals 14-11 in the opener and won the second game by a score of 16-4.

The Cardinals scored 10 run in the first two innings of game one, but the Eagles scored one run in the third inning, and five in the fourth to make it a 10-6 game. The Cardinals scored a run of their own in the fifth to push the lead to five runs. 

In the sixth, the Eagles tied the game with five runs, but lost as Garner-Hayfield-Ventura scored thrice in the top of the seventh to win the game, 14-11.

In game two, the Eagles held an 8-4 lead going into the top of the seventh, and put the game out of reach for the Cardinals by scoring eight more runs, to take a 16-4 lead.

The Eagles start postseason action at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, when they take on Central Springs at Sheffield.
