Rachel Leerar's introduction to high school basketball was a quick one as the freshman started immediately for West Hancock. Now, after one season, Leerar is already bringing in the honors as the guard was named Top of Iowa Conference West Division Player of the Year.
Leerar led the Eagles, who fell in a regional final, with 19.7 points per game, made 42 3-pointers, had 88 steals and handed out 74 assists.
Joining Leerar on the first team was her sister, Kelly. Kelly averaged 10.7 points per game, was third in Class 1A with 131 assists, made 42 3-pointers and added 49 assists.
Sophomore post player Amanda Chizek was named to the second team after averaging a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Sophomore guard Maddie Eisenman was an honorable mention selection as she scored 7.6 points per game, made 31 3s and handed out 38 assists.
