BRITT | The annual awards night for West Hancock High School wrestling team was recently held.

The following are a few comments from West Hancock head coach Mark Sanger about this year's wrestling season.

The team was 20-4 overall this year with a conference record of 12-3.

“This year was the first year we have filled the line-up in the last eight years,” Sanger said, “and this paid dividends in our ability to compete as a dual team.

“We have a group of dedicated, tough, and gifted young men that look to do impressive things in the next few years.”

Sanger thanked the teams four seniors who he said lead the team in the right direction the last four years and helped the team improve from an 11-11 record their freshman year in 2016 to a 20-4 campaign their senior year in 2019.

Those seniors were Nathan Cabrera, Dalton Subject, Bennett Bruns and Caleb Eckels.

“Our upcoming juniors and sophomores look to compete at a high level in the near future,” Sanger said. “We have three returning state qualifiers in the junior class with future potential state qualifiers/place winners in the sophomore and freshman classes.”
