Rockford beat the West Hancock softball team badly on Friday, May 24, by an 11-1 margin, thanks to several defensive miscues by the Eagles.
Junior Madison Eisenman pitched five innings for West Hancock, striking out four batters, but also five walks. She was saddled with the loss, her second of the week.
The loss dropped West Hancock to 0-2 for the season.
The West Hancock softball team took the lead over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Monday, May 20, battling back from a 6-4 in the top of the seventh inning. But the pitching couldn't hold the newfound advantage, as the Cowgirls scored three runs to grab the walkoff win.

The Eagles offense had a great night, with 12 base-hits, including a 3-4 night from sophomores Grace Rosin, and Madison Eisenmann. Eisenmann struggled on the mound in her 6 1/3 innings of work, allowing 12 hits and nine earned runs.
This week, the Eagles host Lake Mills on Tuesday, May 28 and North Iowa on Wednesday, May 29. On Friday, May 31, they travel to West Fork and to Charles City, on Saturday, June 1 for a tournament.
