Newman Catholic plated nine runs in the first inning and cruised to a 12-0 win over West Hancock in Top of Iowa Conference softball on Friday, June 14.

Macy Alexander and Kealan Curley were responsible for much of the Knights’ offense as both were 2-for-2.

Alexander drove in three runs while Curley drove in two.

Paige Leininger threw three innings of hitless ball to pick up the win for Newman.

Leininger struck out four and walked one. 

Eight Northwood-Kensett players earned a hit against West Hancock on Wednesday, June 12. The Vikings scored four runs in the six in the fifth, in the Viking 10-0 win.

Laura Hopperstad had three hits and two RBIs. Molly Hunchis had two hits and two RBIs.

Kayla Senne pitched five innings and didn’t allow a run. She struck out nine and allowed two hits.

The loss marked the Eagles’ ninth in a row.

The Bishop Garrigan softball team walloped West Hancock, 12-0, on Monday, June 10. The Golden Bears had eight hits, and the game was over after 4 innings. Junior Amanda Miller pitched three innings, and allowed just one hit.

On Monday, June 17, the Eagles hosted Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. They travel to Forest City on Wednesday, June 19. On Thursday, June 20, they host West Bend-Mallard on Belmond-Klemme on Friday, June 21.
