Another year is rolling by at West Hancock. We have so many things to be thankful for and proud of in our district. Our students and staff continue to perform at a high level academically and in activities.
Thank you again to the voters of West Hancock for approving the additional PPEL levy. The additional 67 cents per thousand will allow us to make many infrastructure improvements in coming years. As promised the districts portion of your property tax rate will decrease. The rate will decrease by $1.29 per 1000 which is 21 cents more than we promised.

The board of education will use some of the PPEL funds along with SAVE funds to start on some major projects around the district. As you have probably noticed the high school has remained virtually unchanged in certain areas since 1955. The board will approve a contractor at the next regularly scheduled meeting to do some improvements to the front entry, the commons area and the flooring throughout the high school. This can all be done without a bond issue because of the SAVE and PPEL funds. Please contact your legislature and tell them how important SAVE is to our district and that they need to extend this fund for at least another 20 years.
The middle school will be getting a wireless update just as the high school and elementary did a couple years back. This can be taken care because of 70 percent rebate will get on the cost from a program called ERATE. We will also be receiving a small rural school district grant in the range of $25K- $30K. This will help us upgrade our student and staff computers once again.
