West Hancock Middle School students participated in the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa.

The students advanced to the state science fair after receiving a score of 89.5 and above at the West Hancock science fair in February.

Those receiving awards:

* Bailey Gear and Shelby Goepel partnered together and received Honorable Mention with their project, "What Floats Your Boat."

* Sydney Tue received second place for her project "Parched Plants."

* Hannah Barker received second place with the project, "Popcorn."

* Mallory Leerar received the highest placement for the West Hancock school with a first place finish with her project named, "What's Icy."

Those who competed at the state science fair were Sydney Tue, Mallory Leerar, Hannah Barker, Eden Nielsen, Whytnie Johnson, Madeline Clendenen, Isabelle Rosin, Maddie Bruggeman, Madison Wood, Hayden Lang, Emma Bauer, Kamryn Eckels, Olivia Moore, Dru Hagen, Jenna Marchand, Morgan Francis, Makenzie Erdahl, Bailey Gear, Shelby Goepel, Aiden Barber, Brighton Kudej, Jackson Johnson and Caeden Harle.
