Santa's Workshop 2

Emily Wickman, 4, picks out a gift from one of the tables in the Britt Municipal Building in 2015. The gifts were part of the annual Santa's Workshop.

BRITT | Children in Britt are invited to shop for Christmas presents for their parents during Santa's Workshop on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Santa's Workshop will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Britt Municipal Building.

All the items in Santa's Workshop will be priced at $5 or less.

Local businesses donate items or money so the Santa's Workshop Committee can purchase items.

Santa's Workshop began more than 20 years ago, according to Renee Diemer, chairwoman of the committee.

"It's just been a big thing for the kids," she said.

The West Hancock High School Cheerleaders help with the event. Santa himself sometimes stops by.

Volunteers from the Britt Lionesses wrap the gifts the kids purchase.

Diemer said the committee decides each year where the money will go. The members try to pick a project or organization that benefits local youth.

Half of this year's proceeds will go to the West Hancock Cheerleaders, while the other half will be given to The Learning Center, a non-profit daycare in Britt.

There's still time to donate gift items for Santa's Workshop. All items must be new. They can be dropped off at Diemer Realty, located at 78 Main Ave. North in Britt.
