Hancock County Health System's Community Health Department in conjunction with HCHS's Heart and Vascular Center researched the availability of AEDs in the county.

As a result, Community Health purchased two AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) devices for area businesses that were deemed necessary and underserved.

Two Britt businesses were Family Eye Care Center and Miller and Son's Golf Cars, both accepted Zoll AEDs for their businesses. Along with the AEDs, they received all necessary equipment and wall stations for placement.

HCHS Community Health purchase of the AEDs was made possible through the Emergency Preparedness Grant from the Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services.

AEDs were found in several Hancock County communities including 21 in Garner; three in Kanawha; two in each of the communities of Klemme, Ventura and Crystal Lake; and now seven in Britt including the two recently placed.
